About This OpportunityThis is an exciting full-time, continuing opportunity for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in the School of the Environment at the University of Queensland. In this role, you will combine teaching excellence with research leadership, contributing to the School’s impact through high-quality coursework teaching, supervision of Higher Degree by Research (PhD, MPhil) and Honours students, and active engagement in service, outreach, and partnership activities. We are seeking candidates with research profiles addressing interdisciplinary questions in physical geography, complementing the School’s research strengths in climate, natural hazards, coastal processes and geomorphology, catchment management, remote sensing and GIS, environmental science, Quaternary research, and sustainable development. Specialisations such as hydrology, fluvial geomorphology, and hydrogeology are particularly welcome. At UQ, our geography program integrates physical and human geography with geographical information science to develop graduates with technical expertise, critical thinking, and a broad knowledge base. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching, shaping curriculum design, and introducing innovative teaching practices that reflect emerging research and industry developments, while helping prepare the next generation of leaders in the field. Key responsibilities will includeTeachingDeliver high-quality undergraduate, honours, and postgraduate courses, including fieldwork and innovative curriculum design; provide student support. At Senior Lecturer level: ResearchDevelop and maintain an independent research program, publish in high-quality journals, and secure research funding. At Senior Lecturer level: Supervision and Researcher DevelopmentSupervise Honours and Higher Degree by Research students; support staff through coaching and professional development. At Senior Lecturer level: Citizenship and ServiceContribute to School and University governance, foster partnerships, mentor colleagues, and uphold UQ values.
