Position overviewPosition title:Specialist Series (Jr. Specialist)Salary range: The posted UC system-wide salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 24B for the salary range at UCSB. A reasonable estimated full-time rate for this position at 100% time is $52,600-$56,000 annual. “Off-scale salaries”, i.e. a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.
Percent time: Vary from part-time to full-time.
Anticipated start: Appointments are subject to availability of funding and departmental needs.

Jr. Specialists enable research as part of a team. Appointees to the Specialist series engage in specialized research, professional activity, and University and/or public service. Specialists use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions to the research enterprise of the University and to achieve recognition in the professional and scientific community. Specialists may participate in University and/or public service depending upon funding source and duties of the position. The Department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service as appropriate to the position. Appointment start date and program duration will be determined when positions become available. The pool will close on October 31, 2024; if you would like to continue to be considered after that time, and the pooled position is advertised again, you will need to submit a new application.
