This position offers a unique opportunity to work with experts from Masaryk University and other partner institutions on projects related to financial markets, corporate finance, and investment analysis. The role involves evaluating financial strategies, assessing risk in investment portfolios, analysing financial data, and contributing to the development of economic models for corporate decision-making and market forecasting.

The position will primarily focus on peer-reviewed research and the development of financial models for market analysis and corporate decision-making.

We are looking for a candidate:

  • with PhD. degree or near completion of PhD. studies
  • with education and experience in fields like corporate finance, finance or financial markets
  • experience in developing financial econometric models or using them in peer-reviewed research is highly relevant
  • strong programming skills in R or Python are welcome
  • previous experience with data from financial databases such as Refinitiv, Bloomberg, or similar sources is particularly welcome
  • with excellent background in empirical methods are invited as well  
  • with research potential demonstrated by a strong job market paper or at least 1 peer-reviewed publication
  • with fluency in English 
  • who is a self-driven person
  • who can define their own research agenda

What does the position entail: 

  • peer-reviewed research and its presentation at international conferences
  • contribution to the preparation of national and international grant proposals

What do we offer?

  • a full-time (40 hours a week) Postdoctoral Researcher position at one of the highest-ranked universities in the region of Central and Eastern Europe
  • earliest starting date of the contract is September 1st, 2025 or upon mutual agreement
  • the monthly salary offer is 2,400 EUR/month (gross)
  • this is a fixed-term position up to December 31, 2028, a 1-year contract is offered with the opportunity to be extended by up to 3 years. The renewal is conditional on a submission of MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships application and successful performance review. Securing external grant funding via MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships may allow for an extension of the position for up to next 24 months.
