Position position The Institut für Astronomie & Astrophysik of Universität Tübingen (IAAT) has an opening for a Post-doctoral research position (m/f/d, 100% E13 TV-L for 24 months). The successful candidate will work on the project The Sun as an X-ray Star. Goal of this approach is to convert solar X-ray observations to a format that can be used to model the X-ray spectra of other stars and, hence, to investigate the solar-stellar connection for the corona. The project involves the analysis of archival solar imaging and spectroscopic X-ray data. The project will be carried out in the research group Space Based Astrophysics of Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen / Germany led by Prof. B. Stelzer where a broad range of topics related to multi-wavelength observations of the formation and evolution of low-mass stars and brown dwarfs are studied and one focus is stellar activity including the solar context. Qualifications The applicant must have a PhD or equivalent degree in physics or astrophysics. Expertise with X-ray data analysis and a background in solar physics are useful. Position and Salary The position will be funded for a duration of 24 months. Salary will be according to 100% E13 of the TV-L of the German public services.
