Position Overview

The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) is seeking to appoint an exceptional scholar as Professor in Economics within the School of Economics.

We are looking for an ambitious and talented academic with expertise in Macroeconomics, International Economics, and/or Trade, who demonstrates both research excellence and teaching innovation. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in the School, including serving as the Head of the Centre for Global Economic Policy (GEP) and contributing to the School’s policy think tank, Global Economic Policy.


Key Responsibilities

  • Research Leadership

    • Lead internationally recognized research in macroeconomics, trade, and/or international macroeconomics.

    • Act as Principal Investigator on major research projects and identify opportunities for new initiatives.

    • Publish in top-tier journals and contribute to the School’s global research profile.

  • Teaching and Curriculum Development

    • Contribute to teaching and curriculum development across undergraduate, master’s, and PhD programmes.

    • Take responsibility for the quality and design of courses and assessments.

    • Maintain high teaching standards and develop innovative teaching methods.

  • Academic Leadership and Administration

    • Provide academic leadership in the School of Economics and contribute to Faculty and University strategic planning.

    • Support the professional development of junior academic staff and contribute to overall School administration.

    • Lead the activities of the Centre for Global Economic Policy (GEP) and strengthen external research partnerships.


Qualifications and Experience

  • PhD in Economics or closely related field.

  • Internationally recognized research record in macroeconomics, international economics, and/or trade.

  • Demonstrated excellence in research and teaching within the area of expertise.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills in English.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide academic leadership and contribute to strategic planning.


Contract and Benefits

The successful candidate will initially be offered a five-year contract, renewable to a continuing appointment based on performance.
