Imec-Visionlab within the Department of Physics is looking for a Doctoral Candidate in the field of dynamic phase contrast imaging and reconstruction (f/m). This position is part of an FWO fundamental research project, which aims to boost the development of dynamic imaging techniques for time-resolved phase contrast tomography through the development of novel imaging strategies and image reconstruction methods. Position You will work actively on the preparation of a PhD thesis in the field of dynamic phase contrast imaging and reconstruction. You will publish scientific articles related to the research project. You will carry out a limited number of teaching and research support tasks for imec-Visionlab. The starting date is preferably between June and September 2026. Profile You hold a Master degree іn Physics, Mathematics, Engineering or related studies, or you will have obtained it by the time you start work. You can demonstrate excellent study results. You are proficient in at least one programming language (e.g., python, c++, ...) Strong communication skills in English are essential. Knowledge of inverse problems, computational imaging, image reconstruction, or deep learning is a plus. You possess above all a curious, positive mindset and perseverance What we offer We offer a fully funded doctoral scholarship for a period of two years. Following a positive evaluation, the scholarship can be renewed for another two years. Your monthly scholarship amount is calculated according to the scholarship amounts for doctoral scholarship holders. You will receive ecocheques, Internet-connectivity allowance, and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting. As a doctoral researcher, you will have access to a wide and varied range of courses and an educational credit through the Antwerp Doctoral School. You will join a multidisciplinary, international team of experts, and cooperate with strong academic research groups and industrial partners. You will have access to a world-class research environment with state-of-the-art X-ray phase contrast instrumentation and computing infrastructure.
