The institute comprises five different departments: Clinical neuroscience, Health and rehabilitation, Pharmacology, Physiology as well as Psychiatry and neurochemistry.

The Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position at the Department of Clinical neuroscience.

Neuroscience and stroke research at the Sahlgrenska Academy is world-renowned. Our collaborative studies involve clinical and experimental researchers in epidemiology, neurology, genetics, neurorehabilitation, neurochemistry, and neuroimmunology, as well as a large network of international partners.

Subject area

Translational stroke studies

Subject area description

Our research group was the first in the world to show that the complement system stimulates the regeneration of nerve cells both in the healthy brain and after a stroke. Our results from experimental multicenter studies show that treatment with the complement peptide C3a provides faster, better and lasting recovery after stroke in mice, especially in terms of motor function. The purpose of this project is to develop and translate this treatment strategy into clinical practice.

Job assignments

  • Responsibility for a research project focusing on developing and translating new treatment strategies into clinical practice to achieve faster and better recovery after stroke.
  • Induction of stroke and behavioral analysis in mice.
  • Pharmacokinetic studies in mice.
  • Comprehensive analysis of brain tissue at the cellular and molecular levels.
  • Advanced data analysis.
