Postdoctoral Position in Materials Science

The Materials Science Division (MSD) of Argonne National Laboratory is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral appointee in the area of theoretical condensed matter physics. We are interested in candidates with a strong theoretical background in one or more subfields including topological materials, strongly correlated quantum systems, quantum dynamics, and quantum information theory. A particular focus will be on exploring the utility of artificial intelligence models in the study of the above, studying quantum mechanical generalizations, and uncovering connections to statistical models.

Position Requirements PhD in theoretical physics or a closely related field; received within the last 5 years or upcoming year Strong research record in the study of quantum condensed matter systems, broadly defined. The candidate is expected to think and work independently as well as in a large team to conduct research in a highly interdisciplinary environment, where interaction with experimentalists is highly encouraged.
