Department: Dáša Bohačiaková Research Group, Neurobiology of the Development and Disease – Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University Position OverviewThe Medical Faculty of Masaryk University invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral position in cell biology and microglia research. The position is within the Dáša Bohačiaková Research Group, which investigates neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and glioblastoma, focusing on the underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms. The lab uses a variety of human stem-cell-based models, including iPSC-derived neurons, astrocytes, cerebral organoids, neuron/astrocyte co-cultures, and patient-derived glioblastoma samples and tumoroids. The research aims to elucidate pathways and signaling networks driving pathology in AD, glioblastoma, and other neurological conditions (e.g., stroke, schizophrenia). This position focuses on microglia research. The successful candidate will lead microglia-focused programs, drive studies in advanced co-cultures and organoids, deploy CRISPR perturbations, perform functional assays to map disease pathways, and help establish reproducible 3D platforms for therapeutic testing. The team currently includes 10 postdoctoral researchers (2 bioinformaticians) and 9 graduate/undergraduate students. Candidate RequirementsEssential Qualifications:
