The position is within the Dáša Bohačiaková Research Group, which investigates neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and glioblastoma, focusing on the underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms. The lab uses a variety of human stem-cell-based models, including iPSC-derived neurons, astrocytes, cerebral organoids, neuron/astrocyte co-cultures, and patient-derived glioblastoma samples and tumoroids. The research aims to elucidate pathways and signaling networks driving pathology in AD, glioblastoma, and other neurological conditions (e.g., stroke, schizophrenia). This position focuses on microglia research. The successful candidate will lead microglia-focused programs, drive studies in advanced co-cultures and organoids, deploy CRISPR perturbations, perform functional assays to map disease pathways, and help establish reproducible 3D platforms for therapeutic testing. The team currently includes 10 postdoctoral researchers (2 bioinformaticians) and 9 graduate/undergraduate students. Candidate Requirements Essential Qualifications: Ph.D. (or equivalent) awarded within the past 7 years, and at least 2 years of research experience outside the Czech Republic within the past 3 years (≥0.5 FTE), OR Ph.D. from an international institution awarded within the past 3 years Publication record of at least three research outputs in the past three years, with at least two in Q1 journals (Web of Science) Preferred Skills and Experience: Experience in cancer cell biology or stem cell-based disease modeling Proficiency in advanced cell culture techniques, including 3D cultures and co-culture systems Strong expertise in molecular biology techniques (RNA-seq, Western blotting, qPCR, immunocytochemistry, live-cell imaging) Ability to design and execute drug testing protocols in 3D systems Excellent communication, teamwork, and collaborative research skills Application Materials Applicants must include: Comprehensive CV detailing publication history Copy of Ph.D. diploma Contact information for two referees Description of research focus and intended project, including its relevance in the field Documents validating: Two full years of work experience outside the Czech Republic in the past three years, and/or Proof of Ph.D. from a foreign institution Applications must be submitted via e-application.
