The Opportunity

The Postdoctoral Fellow will facilitate imaging studies for MPI, MRI and other modalities conducted in the Biological Resources Imaging Lab (BRIL) at UNSW and support researchers across Australia as a National Imaging Facility (NIF) Fellow. You’ll bring specific expertise to BRIL to support preclinical imaging research, conducting multimodal imaging experiments, as well as assist the development of MPI, MRI and other imaging protocols, development and implementation of novel imaging tracers, evaluation and visualisation of imaging data, and integration of data from multiple modalities available in BRIL.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will report to the Head of the Biological Resources Imaging Lab (BRIL).

About the successful applicant
At Level A

You have a PhD (or equivalent) in a biomedical imaging-related field, such as radiography, medical sciences, biosciences, or biomedical engineering and can demonstrate your ability to conduct and support research, with a track record of publications and conference presentations commensurate with experience, and are skilled in operating and managing imaging instrumentation. You also have experience with related imaging technologies, preferably molecular imaging tracer methods.

You’ll also be able to demonstrate your strong interpersonal skills, ability to work well in a team, and collaborate across disciplines, experience with or willingness to work with preclinical models, learn new techniques, and commitment to following UNSW’s policies and health and safety guidelines.

For Level B, in addition to the qualifications for Level A

You have at least three years of postdoctoral experience in medical sciences, biosciences, imaging science, or related fields and can demonstrate your skills in disseminating research findings through scientific papers, reports for international journals, and progress reports for researchers and industry partners.

You should also have experience in defining research directions, coordinating research activities, and ensuring project milestones are met. Additionally, contributions to successful applications for external research funding would highly regarded.

A strong track record in research support and operational management within a research facility is also essential. You should possess expertise in biological/biomedical imaging applications and have the ability to initiate collaborative research projects using imaging techniques. Lastly, you must demonstrate high-level analytical and problem-solving skills, making informed decisions on experimental issues.
