Your roleA PhD position is available in the research group Multifunctional Ferroic Materials (MFM). The research group is devoted to experimental studies of ferroic phase transitions and symmetry breaking in crystals by solid state spectroscopy techniques, dominantly vibrational spectroscopy, carried out in the laboratory and at large scale facilities. This PhD position will focus on antiferroelectric crystals, with the objective to make progress in the fundamental understanding of this somewhat ill-defined family of materials. Experiments will involve, among others, some sample synthesis, Raman and infrared spectroscopy, and dielectric measurements at cryogenic temperatures. The candidate is also expected to take part in the scientific activities of the group, in collaborations with our international partners, and in our teaching and outreach activities.
