Permanent Whole Time Post

University College Cork (UCC) wishes to appoint an academic to the role of Lecturer in Law and French (Above the Bar) to contribute to the development of the School’s research, programmes, and engagement ambitions.

The School of Law is currently ranked 94th in the world (QS 2025 Subject Rankings). The post holder will be expected to:

  • Be research active, building on existing areas of research strength in the School

  • Act as Programme Director for the BCL (Law and French) degree

  • Make a full contribution to the School’s programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level, as appropriate

Essential Requirements:

  • Ability to teach through the medium of French

  • Knowledge of the French legal system

Desirable:

  • Ability to teach in other areas of law

The postholder will report to the Dean of the School of Law.

Salary

Appointment may be made on the Lecturer (Above the Bar) Salary Scale:

  • Scale B: €79,185 - €102,549

  • Scale A: €75,338 - €97,420

Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
