Position Summary
The Communication Studies Department at IU South Bend is a community of teacher scholars dedicated to providing frameworks for personal and professional achievement at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Our mission is to highlight diverse perspectives that inspire students to communicate ethically in local, global, and virtual communities. We have a BA degree with three tracks: Journalism and Digital Media, Public Relations and Strategic Communication, and Relational Communication and Social Interaction.

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will serve as the coordinator of the SPCH-S121: Public Speaking course. They will teach a 4-4 load and engage in service responsibilities.

The instructor will primarily teach SPCH-S121 sections, but will also have the opportunity to teach within their area of expertise (that aligns with one of our three tracks in the major).

SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Faculty are expected to provide service to the department, school, and campus communities. They will be providing guidance for the SPCH-S121 program, including training/supervision of adjuncts and updating course content.

Basic Qualifications
    • A Master of Arts in Communication
    • Ability to teach SPCH-S 121: Public Speaking; and core courses in the major
    • Evidence of innovative and effective teaching
