SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

 

In this role, the instructor is expected to supervise student training while on clinical rotations in the MSc in Clinical Pharmacy program by conducting visits to training sites in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Abu Dhabi, conduct weekly case discussions and follow up with care planning as an essential outcome in each rotation, and run course assessments as per each course learning outcomes. This candidate will offer individualized support for students during clinical rotations, and will ensure effective coordination and placement of students at training sites according to their study plans. The candidate will also prepare training course files as per the requirement of CAA and contribute to overall College duties as needed.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  1. Supervision and Visits to Hospitals:
    • Conduct regular visits to hospitals to observe students during their clinical rotations.
    • Provide guidance and feedback to students on their performance and clinical skills development achieving learning outcomes and satisfaction with clinical training.
    • Collaborate with preceptors to ensure students receive comprehensive and diverse clinical experiences.
    • Support students who may encounter challenges or difficulties during their clinical rotations.
  2. Design of Tailored Assessments:Coordination of Student Placements:
    • Develop assessments for each rotation tailored to the specific skills and competencies required assuring standardization and consistency.
    • Implement a variety of assessment methods, including case presentations, Team-based learning, and objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs).
    • Ensure assessments align with program objectives and accreditation standards.
  • Work closely with the program coordinator to assign students to appropriate training sites based on their study plans and learning objectives.
  • Communicate with hospitals and preceptors to facilitate student placements and ensure alignment with program requirements.
  • Address any logistical issues related to student placements and rotations (eg invoice billings and invitation letters for training).

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • A PharmD degree or an MSc in Clinical Pharmacy from a well reputed university is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years hospital pharmacy experience is required.
  • Completion of a minimum of one of the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties certifications and/or PGY1 training is required
  • Previous experience in teaching and supervising students in clinical settings is preferred.
  • Advanced use of technology in the education process (delivering sessions via presentations, using e-learning systems, reports) is preferred.
  • Candidates with strong research output and background experience in the field are preferred.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals and preceptors in a multiple diverse community.
  • Ability to design learning modules and deliver presentations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to design authentic assessments in clinical rotations.
  • Ability to multitask and organize

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

  • Work is performed in a typical office work environment and in various hospitals supervising students training in clinical rotations.
  • Driver’s license is needed for travel to hospitals.
