Under the direction of the Associate Dean of the Women in Science and Engineering program at Douglass Residential College, the instructor is responsible for teaching the required course for the Introduction to Scientific Research (ISR) course, 3cr, offered to STEM students at Douglass who are a part of the Douglass STEM Research Experience. This coordinated curriculum includes discussions, small-group activities, and short lectures that focus on the skills needed to undertake research projects and research communication. This course also places students in a research lab for five (5) hours per week with a Rutgers Faculty Mentor. ISR is mandatory for participation in the funded Summer Research component of the STEM Research Experience.

The instructor must be well versed in STEM research topics and an advocate for the advancement of women in STEM.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience    

Master’s degree in sciences or education preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or related Science field.

Proficiency using the Learning Management System, Canvas
Must have an intimate understanding of scientific research and of the needs of women majoring in science and other STEM fields.
