Position Overview

The Division of Gastroenterology at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the Department of Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, are seeking an Academic Gastroenterologist to lead a vibrant and productive Division of Gastroenterology.

  • Position: Full-time, approximately 50% clinical and 50% research/teaching/quality improvement/administrative.

  • Expected start date: July 1, 2026, or shortly thereafter.

  • Academic appointment: Eligible for Associate or Full Professor rank at the University of Toronto.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical, administrative, and academic leadership for the Division.

  • Mentor faculty and support career development.

  • Develop divisional goals and objectives aligned with University, Hospital, and Department strategic initiatives.

  • Lead the division in delivering excellence across clinical, academic, and research activities.


Qualifications

  • MD degree.

  • Certification (or eligibility) in Gastroenterology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

  • Licensure (or eligibility) to practice in Ontario.

  • Proven leadership and mentorship skills in clinical care, education, research, clinical innovation, and change management.


Remuneration and Benefits

  • Commensurate with academic rank, qualifications, clinical work, and experience.

  • Eligible for membership in the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association for clinical billings and benefits.

  • Access to the department’s group medical, dental, and life insurance plans.
