Position The Deputy Vice-Chancellor will: Assist the Vice-Chancellor in leading the University and deputise when the Vice-Chancellor is unavailable. Serve as a member of the University Management and the Vice-Chancellor’s Management Council, among other bodies. Work closely with the Vice-Chancellor as part of a complementary leadership team. Contribute to the development of teaching, research and external engagement. Safeguard the University's internal affairs and the well-being of students and staff. Key Responsibilities Working alongside the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor will be responsible for: Safeguarding and promoting collegial decision-making, academic freedom and institutional autonomy. Supporting sustainable and strong student influence throughout the University. Ensuring that education and research maintain the highest international standards and strengthen one another. Representing the University externally and contributing actively to public debate. Strengthening collaboration with the wider community at local, national and international levels. Promoting a sustainable and attractive study and work environment. Advancing equality, diversity, equal opportunities and a sense of belonging. Supporting sustainable financial conditions and long-term competitiveness. Harnessing the potential of important research infrastructures. Combining academic leadership with the responsibilities of a public authority. Promoting openness alongside systematic security management. Developing effective and collaborative management structures within a complex, decentralised organisation. Candidate Profile Applicants must: Be a professor with a strong academic background. Have substantial, up-to-date experience in conducting, developing and leading:Be an experienced and strategic academic leader and manager. Teaching Research External engagement with the wider community Demonstrate the ability to turn visions into concrete actions. Have strong personal integrity, decisiveness and strategic judgement. Be responsive, accountable and committed. Demonstrate empathy, ethical awareness and the ability to reflect critically on leadership and organisational practices. Have strong relationship-building and consensus-building skills. Have experience championing university issues at local, national and international levels. Possess extensive international experience.
