The Role

The Director of the Queensland Brain Institute (QBI) will lead one of the world’s premier neuroscience research institutes, driving a bold and innovative vision for the future of brain research in Queensland and globally. This role encompasses academic excellence, strategic direction, and external engagement, fostering a collaborative and high-performing research environment.

The Director will champion the translation of groundbreaking discoveries into real-world impact by cultivating strong partnerships across industry, government, healthcare, and the broader community. With a focus on securing significant research funding, mentoring emerging scientific leaders, and promoting innovation, the Director will ensure QBI remains at the forefront of neuroscience, delivering transformative outcomes that improve lives.


The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to lead with impact. We are seeking a visionary academic with an international reputation in neuroscience or a related field, backed by a strong research track record of publications, grant funding and PhD supervision. You will bring proven success in shaping culture, driving academic excellence, and managing complex operations. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, along with the ability to influence, negotiate, and build strategic partnerships.

You will have the energy and drive to position the Institute at the forefront of global brain research.
