Position Overview

The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Neurology, at the Yale School of Medicine seeks an outstanding full-time, clinical-academic pediatric epileptologist to serve as Director of the Yale Comprehensive Pediatric Epilepsy Program.

The Director will be responsible for:

  • Significantly expanding Pediatric Epilepsy-related clinical programs and research

  • Strengthening and developing new training programs geared toward excellence and leadership

  • Implementing a transformative vision for the future of Pediatric Epilepsy


Clinical Responsibilities

  • Inpatient and outpatient care

  • Expansion of pediatric, neonatal, and ICU video/EEG monitoring

  • Ketogenic diet and VNS programs

  • Pediatric Epilepsy Surgery program

The Director will collaborate with the NAEC Level IV Yale Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, and will have access to extensive research infrastructure and initiatives in clinical neurosciences, neuroimaging, and basic-translational neuroscience across Yale.


Team Structure

  • 3 fellowship-trained, BC/BE Pediatric Epileptologists

  • 6 other Pediatric Neurologists

  • 10+ Adult Epileptologists

  • 3+ Neuropsychologists (1 Pediatric)

  • 2 Epilepsy Neurosurgeons

  • Dedicated nursing, pediatric psychology, nutrition, administrative, and social work support

The Pediatric Epilepsy Program rotates all residents through Pediatric Epilepsy, and plans are underway to expand the epilepsy monitoring unit at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital, including satellite facilities throughout Connecticut.

Qualifications

  • MD, MD/PhD, DO, or foreign equivalent

  • Eligibility for medical licensure in Connecticut

  • Board eligibility or certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology or equivalent

  • Subspecialty training in epilepsy and certification in clinical neurophysiology (ABPN, ABCN, or equivalent)

  • Credentialing by Yale New Haven Health to practice the full spectrum of Pediatric Epilepsy diagnostics and therapeutic interventions

  • Evidence of clinical excellence and leadership
