Job Description

The Department of Cognitive Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University invites applications for a faculty position in Psychology (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor). The area of specialization is open; however, candidates with expertise in Clinical Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Cross-Cultural Psychology, or related areas aligned with mental health and behavioural sciences are particularly encouraged to apply. We are especially interested in candidates with a strong research profile, an established and externally funded research program, and a clear record of publications in high-impact, Scopus-indexed journals. Applicants with experience in interdisciplinary research, policy engagement, or applied work addressing societal challenges (e.g., mental health, addiction, wellbeing) are highly desirable. The Department of Cognitive Sciences at UAEU is dynamic and diverse, with excellent research facilities and a strong commitment to research excellence and societal impact. We seek a collegial and ambitious colleague who will contribute to both teaching and the continued growth of our research profile. UAEU is located in Al Ain (Emirate of Abu Dhabi), approximately 1.5 hours from Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Minimum Qualification

Applicants must have earned a bachelor’s AND a doctoral degree in Psychology from an internationally reputable university

Preferred Qualification

Preference may be given to applicants who (1) have completed recognized professional development in higher education teaching and learning, and (2) hold relevant competency-based clinical training and practical experience, with formal expertise in evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Additional consideration will be given to candidates with licensure (or license-eligibility) and experience in supervision or cross-cultural practice.

Excpected Skills

The successful candidate is expected to have an excellent publication track record commensurate with career stage, and a demonstrable ability to attract competitive funding. The language of instruction at UAEU is English and applicants need to have native or near-native fluency in English. Candidates are expected to demonstrate strong teaching skills, including the ability to design and deliver high-quality courses, use evidence-based pedagogical approaches, and mentor students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Research skills include developing an independent and impactful research programme, securing external funding, publishing in peer-reviewed outlets, and supervising student research. In terms of university service, the candidate is expected to contribute to departmental and institutional leadership, participate in committees, support curriculum development, engage in professional and community outreach, and uphold ethical, inclusive, and collegial academic practice
