The USC Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine invites applicants for Assistant/Associate Professor of Research Pathology with expertise in design, pharmacology, toxicology, and molecular mechanisms of immunomodulatory macrocyclic peptides. The department seeks candidates with demonstrated abilities in the design and synthesis of novel cyclic peptides bioinspired by the structural and biological properties of naturally occurring cyclic peptides, and their evaluation as preclinical therapeutics in models of infectious and immunologic diseases. Expertise in animal models of disease, bioanalytic methods, PK/PD, toxicokinetics and ADME is essential. Candidates must hold an M.D. or Ph.D., have at least ten years of postdoctoral experience, a record of scholarship as evidenced by peer reviewed publications, record as a principal investigator on extramurally funded contracts/grants, and experience in the training of research students and staff.

 

The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine is staffed by 102 faculty who serve the educational, clinical, and research mission of the Keck School of Medicine. Keck Medical Center and the Norris Cancer Hospital are major facilities within the USC academic health system. The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine provides all diagnostic services that support inpatient and ambulatory care at the hospitals and satellite labs operated by Keck Medicine. Major clinical programs include those of the NCI-designated Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center (hematologic malignancies, urologic, breast, and colon cancer), transplant programs that include liver, heart, and lung. Basic and applied research programs are focused on development biology, molecular oncology, hematologic malignancy, neurologic degenerative diseases, immunology, and infectious diseases.
