Job Description

This is a career-development position designed to develop independence as a researcher and educator. Resources corresponding to at least one doctoral studentship will be linked to the appointment.

Duties include:

• Conduct research in molecular microbiology focusing on prokaryotes

• Establish an independent research line of high international standard, elucidating molecular, cellular, or evolutionary mechanisms using prokaryotic genetic model systems

• Actively seek external funding for research activities

• Collaborate within the department, university, and external organizations

• Teach, examine, and supervise students at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels (10–30% teaching workload)

• Perform administrative and organizational tasks at departmental/faculty levels as required

Qualification Requirements

• PhD (or equivalent expertise) in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field

• Scientific expertise in molecular microbiology of prokaryotes

• Strong research credentials (high-quality publications)

• Independent research profile with potential to obtain external funding

• Postdoctoral experience outside the awarding university

• Good pedagogical skills and teaching experience

• Excellent English communication skills
