Job Summary

The Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences (EAPS) at Purdue University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The successful candidate will be an Earth scientist specializing in active tectonic processes examined through airborne or orbital remote sensing.

Applicants whose research uses remote-sensing–based approaches to study ongoing tectonic processes—such as earthquakes, volcanoes, crustal deformation, plate boundary processes, and natural hazards—are particularly encouraged to apply.

Relevant remote-sensing tools include (but are not limited to):

  • InSAR

  • GNSS

  • Gravity measurements

  • Lidar

  • Imaging spectroscopy

  • Imaging / stereo-imaging


Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Earth Sciences or a related field, completed by the start of employment.

  • Demonstrated potential to establish a strong, independent research program.

  • Demonstrated potential for effective teaching and student mentorship at undergraduate and graduate levels.

  • Ability to interact with and complement strengths of the Geology & Geophysics research group.
