About the Department The Department of Molecular Biosciences, The Wenner-Gren Institute (MBW), conducts experimental basic research in molecular cell biology, integrative biology, and infection and immunobiology. The research is characterized by modern and advanced methodologies, and the research environment has a strong international profile and is linked to SciLifeLab (Solna). The department offers education at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. MBW is one of the larger departments within the Faculty of Science at Stockholm University, with 30 research groups and approximately 180 employees, of whom about 50 are doctoral students. MBW intends to strengthen and further develop its research and education in this field. The successful candidate is expected to lead a research group in molecular microbiology and establish internationally competitive experimental research with the aim of understanding molecular processes in prokaryotic cells and/or interactions between cells. Subject Prokaryotic microbiology with focus on molecular processes Subject Description Prokaryotic microbiology includes the study of molecular processes in prokaryotic cells and their interactions. Main Responsibilities Research Some teaching and supervision Qualification Requirements In order to qualify for the position as assistant professor, the applicant must have completed a doctoral degree in Sweden or an equivalent degree from another country. Priority will be given to applicants who have received such a degree no more than seven years before the deadline for applications. However, an applicant who has received such a degree earlier may be considered under special circumstances (e.g., sick leave, parental leave, or similar). All teaching positions at Stockholm University require the ability to collaborate and the general ability and suitability to perform one’s duties. Assessment Criteria Special attention will be given to research skills. Teaching skills will also be considered. The assessment of research skills will focus primarily on merits within the subject area of the position. About the Employment This position (in Swedish, “biträdande lektor”) is a tenure track position, regulated by the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2024:673).
