Position OverviewThe Finance and Business Economics (FBE) Department in the Marshall School of Business invites applications for a part-time faculty (non-tenure-track) position for AY 2025-2026. USC defines two categories of appointment for faculty working less than full time: Adjunct and Part-time. The difference is primarily based on the nature of a faculty member’s professional work outside of teaching at USC. Definition of Adjunct FacultyUSC reserves the “Adjunct Faculty” appointment for faculty teaching less than full time at USC, who are employed full time in a primary profession or career elsewhere. Adjunct faculty typically teach only one course per year but, in exceptional cases, may teach one course per semester, if approved by the dean. Examples:
Definition of Part-time FacultyUSC reserves the “Part-time Faculty” appointment for faculty teaching less than full time who are not employed full time in a primary position or career elsewhere. Examples:
Part-time Faculty may teach a maximum of 3 courses per semester, with a goal to limit that to 2 as full-time faculty numbers increase. Responsibilities
