The successful candidate will be offered a tenured or tenure-track appointment with the rank of assistant professor, which is in accordance with the Academic Faculty Agreement, and offers a comprehensive benefits package. Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton. Working for the Department of Surgery The Department of Surgery is comprised of 15 divisions and offers programs in undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate studies. The department also includes many research groups who contribute to cutting edge advancements in areas such as transplantation, joint preservation and regeneration, and surgical simulation technology. The Division of Anatomy is primarily a teaching division with responsibilities for the provision of human anatomy instruction to undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students across the University of Alberta, including the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry, Science, Arts, Physical Education and Recreation, Nursing, Rehabilitation Medicine, and Pharmacy. The Division of Anatomy is dedicated to innovation and excellence in the teaching of anatomy and to the advancement of knowledge through basic and applied research in clinical anatomy, the development of new educational methods and educational technology. Position Summary The Division of Anatomy in the Department of Surgery at the University of Alberta invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level for an anatomist. Applicants who are exceptionally and appropriately qualified may be considered at the Associate Professor level. Duties We seek an individual to complement and extend the Division of Anatomy’s existing strengths in the teaching of medical gross anatomy, general systematic anatomy, cross-sectional anatomy, clinical neuroanatomy, histology and embryology. This position is located at the University of Alberta and is affiliated with the Northern Alberta Medical Program. Demonstration of a proven track record to carry a substantial teaching load and engage in independent or collaborative research in any of the anatomical disciplines or in the field of medical education is an asset.
